Abstract
One hundred three patients with intrauterine adhesions diagnosed by hysterosalpingography in Il Shin Christian Hospital from lst. Jan 1991 to 31-Dec 1994 were classified accorindg to the severity of adhesions. They were all adhesiolysed and
inserted
with Foley catheter under general anesthenia, subsequently given antibiotics & sequential estrogen-progesterone hormonal therapy for 3 months.
Seventy four patients wee rechecked the hysterosalpingography and followed up for at least 6 months.
@ES The results were as follows.
@EN 1. The numbers of prevous pregnancy were 22.3% for 3 pregnancies, 19.4% for 4 pregnancies 19.4% for l pregnancy.
2. Forty-three patients(41.3%) complained of secondary amenorrhea & hypomenorrhea, 40 patients(38.8%) of secondary infertility.
3. The most common etiologic factor was D. & C. (92.2%).
4. After treatment, 74 patients had been rechecked by follow up hysterosalpingography, 37 patients(50%) had complete resolution, 27 patients(36.5%) had partial resolution.
5. Among 74 patients who wanted pregnancy and were followed up for at least 6 months, 51 patients(68.9%) had become pregnant. And then, of 51 patients 25 patients(49.0%) progressed to term delivery, 13 patients (25.5%) aborted spontaneously.
6. Among 13 patients who had the total blockage of uterine cavity by hysterosalpingography and then became pregnant, 5 patients aborted spontaneously, 2 patients delivered prematurely.
Among 8 patients who extensive intrauterine adhesion, 4 patients aborted spontaneously.
7. None of 16 patients who had restricted intrauterine adhesion and 11 patients of 14 patients who had combined intracervical & intrauterine adhesion progressed to full term delivery, so restricted adhesin and combined intracervical &
intrauterine
adhesion have a good chance of a full term pregnancy.
